Does anyone know wether a an Athlon or Athlon XP with a 266 or 333Mhz FSB will work with a computer with a 200Mhz FSB?  200Mhz chips are hard to find and I'm not ready to buy a new computer yet.  So will either of these chips underclock to 200Mhz or am i SOL?
Thanks.

What processor do you have now? What socket does it use? What is the maximum your motherboard can support? If you can't answer all of of these questions with surefire certainty, then put down the screwdriver - you will break something. While it is possible to underclock processors, the loss of performance is so great that there's no point in buying a new one anyway. Remember, if you underclock by 66MHz on the FSB, you're not just losing 66MHz, but 66MHz multiplied by whatever the core clock multiplier is. The days of replacing the CPU independently of the motherboard are long gone: these days, you pretty much have to replace your motherboard and CPU (and often your RAM) in one go.
