Access ext2 under Windoze

SYN

I want to access files on an ext* partition without much effords. I don't need the files everytime so plugging the hdd in/on my linux box isn't the best solution because of noise, heat,... . explore2fs isn't very good either.

My way is to put it into an external USB case, plug it on my notebook and use VirtualPC to run a Knoppix Live Linux that can acces the partitions, sharing the files over a virtual network.

My Question to 4chan is: can you recommend a special mini linux distro (there are too many available) that comes with a samba server?

why dont you just install the ext2ifs file system driver for windows? this is assuming you are on win2k/xp.

Get it from here:

http://www.fs-driver.org/

the other google results come up with read only drivers, so make sure you use this one. Its very fast and stable, and most of my partitons are ext2 now so that I can use win + linux together in harmony.
