My dad bought me a Barracuda Ultra ATA/100 80gb hard drive for christmas. I don't really want it because I've read its slow, but I need the space since my hard drive has around 700mb left. Is it worth it to install it just for storage space?

What the fuck are you smoking?
Ultra ATA/100 is fast unless you are trying to compare it with SATA II in which case I guess you can call it slow. I don't know about Seagate drives, but it should have no problem maxing the potential capability of Ultra ATA 100 which is about 80mb/s burst max.

No, not worth it. I mean, sure, you'd have an extra 80GB, but since it's allegedly so slow, what on Earth could you use it for? You couldn't possibly use it to store your mp3 collection. Hell, even word processing these days requires that you have the fastest drives available. LAWL

Or, in plain words: Unless you plan on capturing several HD-streams in full resolution at the same time, or run a database with several hundred users logged on, you won't max out any available harddisc. Slow.... jeezus, kids these days...
