The sound volume keeps changing itself

Yeah, that's the problem right there. I have tried using both a sound card and the onboard sound, always the same problem. It isn't the speekers since it's the same on another pair of speakers aswell as the ones I use right now.
Can it be a software problem? Most often after It has been on for awhile, regardless of the volume I have put it on, it settles on a setting that is a little to low and if I decide to change the volume again it starts freaking out.

I ran Rootkit Revealer, it found 9 descrepancies(?), I ran an anti-virus program and it did't find anything and I ran Rootkit Revealer again this time it had 7 hits and the last times I've run it has found 5. And those 5 are thoe ones I posted. I tried googeling for some of them, but haven't had the time with all of them yet.

Yes I do happen to have volume controls on my keyboard, but I don't have any drivers installed for it, I never actually had. All that "works" is the volume down button, but that just mutes the sound.
