Floppy No Longer Working

I have a floppy drive, but it stopped working in Windows XP.  Odd thing is I can boot up a Windows 98 boot disk, swap floppies, and read files, but it won't read floppy disks in Windows XP anymore.  It just says "This floppy is not formatted."  Does anybody know why?
