Hey 4chan, a long time ago, i bought a segate 200GB internal HDD, my brother used it on his computer cause he neeeded it. When he installed it only 120gb is accessable. now his computer messed up so i get to take his HDD, and still only 120GB was usable. can anyone help me on this?

No, formatting it won't modify the partition information, so you'll most likely still only get 120GB. You need a motherboard and operating system that supports 48-bit LBA (XP SP1 and later, 2000 SP4, any recent Linux). Then just delete the partition and remake it at full size.

I'm not so sure about Windows 2000; I just installed the original Windows 2000 on a 150 GB partition without a problem, then I upgraded to SP4.

It may be that the PC's BIOS does not support the sheer size of the drive. Also, the OS may have something to do with it -- what service pack of XP are you running?
