Internet Explorer 6 Offline Download

Name: Anonymous 2005-11-23 2:03

Hey guys, I know this has probably been asked a million times, but I told somebody with a dial up connection that I would download IE6 for them and burn it to CD.  My only problem is I downloaded IE6SETUP.EXE and I don't know the switches to perform an offline install.  Can anybody help?

Which OS does the person have?

Oh, right.  Windows 98 Retail (not SE).  Sorry. :)

And I'll be downloading it using Windows XP, if that makes sense.

Ok, nevermind.  I googled it and figured it out.  Basically you type "ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E" and it lets you choose which OS to install it on.

Is IE6 compatible with Win98? I suggest you research that question before going any further.

Yes, it is.  It is compatible with every Windows OS except Windows 95.  And yes, I did research.

You don't want MSIE6, and the other person doesn't, either. If you think you do, you're mistaken.

Just stay behind a firewall, scan everything you download, and use Firefox. Not only it's secure and stable, unlike MSIE which is a complete piece of shit, but it's a much faster browser (both retrieving data and displaying it), renders pages better, has more options and features of any kind, especially user-oriented features (rather than spammer-oriented like MSIE), is available in more languages and with more skins, and has a lot of things like XUL people will start using soon.
