Fixing a laptop?

Name: Anonymous 2005-11-05 0:26

So not too long ago I got a laptop that the previous owner complained was not working. He complained about it freezing / crashing when he tried to play movies or do anything taxing on it. I bought it off of him for 150 bucks, and as it turns out, the problem is that the 1 inch fan in the back of the laptop does not work (thus the overheating and crashing).

So I thought no problem, just going to need to replace the fan.

Only thing is, I can't get the fucking laptop open (wierd star-shaped screws, what do I use to open this thing?) and where would I get a replacement fan?

The laptop is a Compaq Presario 900.

get some clay, take a mold of the screw heads, use that dry mold to open the screws.

or jus buy specialized tool set from home depot.

I found the type of tool to use to get the screws out, problem is now that it sucks barely fits in the screws, but I can deal with it. Attempting to get all of the screws out now...

I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing...
