Processor Upgrading

My laptop's been having problems when gaming. Basically, at seeminly random times, the input will freeze up. If I was moving to the right at the time, my character on counter-strike or GunZ would continue moving right, even after letting go of the key. If I clicked the mouse or pressed any other direction keys during this period of frozen input, the commands would all be executed at once a few seconds later. I think this is a symptom of my processor becoming overwhelmed with all the input it has to process. The processor is a Sempron 3000+, with only 128kb of cache. The fact that I have no troubles playing older games like Quake 3 or Red Alert 2 re-enforces my opinion that it's the processor being overloaded.
So, I managed to dig up the servicing guide for my laptop (HP Pavilion ZV6115EA) and found an interesting note. Apparently the processor can take anything between a Mobile Athlon64 3000+ and a 4000+. A quick glance at CPU-Z confirmed my suspicions.

This was a Socket 939 laptop. I found this extremely surprising. Judging from the processor, the fact this was a budget laptop (Radeon 200M chipset) and the manufacturer (HP), I was expecting Socket 754.

So, what are my options from here. How easy is it to replace laptop processors? Where are the best places to buy them? Will buying an Athlon even solve my problem? And is there any other solution?

Also, even though the laptop said it would take an Athlon 3000-4000, surely it would take a 2800 as well? Or do they not make S939 2800s?

In other words you don't have a decent response so you're flaming me. Typical.

Only laptops I can see upgrading are alienwares, and its only possible on some models, id say go with a completely new laptop, or replace it with the same proc, your ram / hdd might be fucked, or you just might be shit out of luck and I know nothing. :)
