Divx > DVD conversion

I'm trying to do a Divx to DVD conversion, I ripped an old instructional video on working with precious stones and metals to Divx, and it works great. Video looks as good as it can, considering it's so old, and sounds fine.

I tried to use DVD Creator 8.0 to convert the file to a DVD format, and it does so, but when I use the same program to burn it to a disc, it doesn't have any audio in it at all.

Now, what I was thinking of doing was using VirtualDub to rip the audio off of the Divx copy and convert it seperately to DVD format, then burn the disc manually.

Is this possible? If so, what can I use to convert the ripped audio from WAV format to a DVD compatible format?

When it's in the "DVD format," can it be played with audio normally?  If so, consider burning with something else.

Transcoding from a compressed format to a compressed format will have degredation.  If you have the original source tape, why don't you just rip to MPEG2 and burn the dvd?

If you're sure you want to use the divx file, go buy (or "find") canopus procoder.  It'll convert anything to anything, pretty much.
