Best free antivirus?

Name: Anonymous 2005-10-12 8:22

Ive had norton ever since I bought my computer but when they came out with the new version, they decided not to support the old, and to top it off they went up on the subscription service.
I'm looking for something that offers free updates and script blocking.
BTW I'm running windows xp.

any suggestions?

It's the XP half-life, surely you've heard of it.

I had an XP box that ran well for many years, but it required months of tweaking to get it into that state. Also not doing dumb stuff like running as root.

When I eventually reinstalled and realised how much work it would take to make it usable again, I gave up.
