external (non-plugin) Flash player

I'm looking for a program that plays flash files outside of a browser. I've seen a macromedia program that does it, but I can't find anything on Macromedia's website, and installing the latest verisons of Flash and Shockwave does shit, except add those plugins to my browsers.

So where the fuck do I get an external player?

mpc probably as a Linux port.
