Taskbar help

I'm sorry if this seems like  n00bish request.. but, I am an experienced Windows XP Pro user, but I have always had trouble with the taskbar. And recently, it's been acting up. I have tried a few different ways to remedy the situation, but to no avail.

I need to get rid of the extra sections/bars, and I can't figure out how. Please help. And, I'm sorry if this is just my own stupidity ^^";

I'm using Windows 2000 and there are differences in Explorer.exe's taskbar, so I can't help, but try dragging sections outside the task bar and closing them drag them from the vertical bar), or try killing Explorer.exe and loading it again (from the Task Manager, Ctrl+Shift+Escape) and see if it was a bug or whatever.
