Need help with Flash

Name: Anonymous 2005-09-27 12:29

So I've recently installed Quicktime and it totally eff'd up my ability to view Flash through Firefox. Before I had it installed, there'd be no quicktime loader, even though I had quicktime. It'd be default loading, or something. So I uninstalled Quicktime and tried that, it didn't work. I installed an older version of Quicktime, no go. All of these trials were also done with Internet Explorer and I've had success. Also, I've changed Quicktimes MIME setting's to not view Flash files(.swf). When I turn it on, it's run through IE, when I turn it off, it's off on IE but not firefox.

It's a major inconvenience for me to go through IE to view flash files. :( Please help me out. Thank you.

Lol, QuickTime. I lost the count of the times I saw QuickTime screwing Windows Explorer, OSes, web browsers... Avoid that piece of shit who thinks it's so important you'll even browse porn with it. Then it comes with such a shitty, bloated, useless player you can't even set to full screen without paying, ha.

Get rid of ShitTime. Install QuickTime Alternative if you really must, that's a STANDARD, PROPER DirectShow wrapper for ShitTime so you can use a decent player, like Media Player Classic, to view that.

I just love how windows people hate all the good standards (mov, pdf, yaml).

you mean downloading

If this happened very recently, just restore your computer to a pre-quicktime point, and get vlc player to play mov files.

Lol "good standards". And I suppose you're a Linux fanboy. Well, you lose, because both are closed source shitty capped commercial formats. PDF even implements stupid protections.

I like text/plain for my text (so I view and transform it however I like), and Matroska (MKV) for video, a more powerful, free standard.

Regardless of how good the QT and PDF formats are (I have my complaints regarding PDF), the players suck hairy, greasy monkey balls. QuickTime player is bloated, capped bullshit, and it's not by any means a standard video filter for Windows, so it loses by trying to tie you to a particular sucky player. Besides, it tends to fuck everything up. And Adobe Reader... well. To say it's bloatware is an understatement. It's slow, stupid, and ugly. PDFs themselves are stupid and ugly, they serve no purpose other than introducing legacy page-oriented bullshit into digital documents, preventing you from doing anything useful to your text, annoying users, and being stupid, especially in the web - why the fuck would I want to view a "kewl PDF document lol" at a web sight? I browse the web with Mozilla (open source, standards compilant), not Adobe's bullshit propietary bloatware.

I got rid of quicktime but then flash's wont play in Firefox. I can't system restore because i've recently gotten some huge files that I don't feel like downloading again.
