network error

i cannot get out to the internet over my wireless connection, using a broadcom adapter (model not important) and linksys wrt54gv3.1.

i used to be able to use it fine.

i now cannot.

i can connect to the connection over windows. it shows up as connected under "Netwrok Connections" and under "LAN or High Speed Internet"

i can connect to the router through 192.168.2.1

HOWEVER, i cannot get out to the internet. ie- i cannot open firefox and type in an address and get it to load the page.

i realize this is a really noob question, and i'm ashamed for not being able to figure it out on my own.

Can you confirm the router itself is connecting to the internet correctly (ie. it shows up as "connected" in the router status page, or the connection light on the router is lit)? I've had those cheap home routers sometimes lose their connection settings and have to have the power cycled, or they may even have to be reset and the settings entered again (many routers allow you to back up the settings into a file so you can restore them again easily after a cold reset). Oh, and obviously before you do that, check the cables are plugged in securely. If it does appear to be connecting okay, trying pinging a well-known address by its IP - 66.249.93.99 is the front page of google.com, for example (open a command window and type "ping", followed by the IP address). If it returns a ping, that suggests domain name resolution problems. Check your router is set to pick up the DNS server(s) from your ISP okay (again, try the cold reset and re-enter settings), or check what they are with your ISP and enter them into the router's connection setup page manually.

Just a few of the more obvious suggestions to get your started.

9/10 this is a subnet problem.
