I found out that my two Geil RAM modules and my motherboard didn't do well together, so I'm looking for some decent new memory that goes well with my 3.0 GHz on an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe and my 6600 GT. When it comes to hardware in a complete newbie. I have no idea what to look for in RAM. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

PQI makes some good, high quality ram. Its not too expensive and I've never had any problems with it. As far as registered ram goes, >>3 shouldnt have mentioned it because it requires a different memory controller that usually is only found on workstations and servers.
The board that you have should have the Intel 875P chipset, so youll want to buy DDR 400, and make sure that they are matched pairs, that way the can work in dual channel mode.
