Good books to read?

Name: Anonymous 2011-08-30 0:28

I’ve decided what I want to do for September: read 15 books in 30 days. I read three books this weekend:

- The Accidental Billionaires, by Ben Mezrich.
- Gang Leader for a Day, by Sudhir Venkatesh.
- World War Z, by Max Brooks.

I enjoyed all three. Now I need your help. What books would you recommend that I read in September? Any more like these?

bourbon for breakfast, shit my dad says and an idiot abroad were great books to read on the toilet for me

sanshiro by natsume soseki and robert graves' i claudius and satan's bushel by garet garrett some of my favourite novels. war and peace is acually very good but just sooo long. obviously 1984 and lolita.

non fiction rubicon by tom holland. the fatal conceit by hayek. mao the unknown story by jung chang or something. omnipotent government by mises. homage to catalonia by george orwell. suetonius is funnier than youd expect especially the parts on tiberius caligula and nero

If you're in to science fiction and futuristic settings, I could suggest works by Vernon Vinge. I myself read Rainbow's End last year and considered it a good read. The story itself is something that takes you away. Also, a longer book I read after Rainbow's End was Terminal Compromise by Winn Schwartau. Again, the story, the plot, the detail is excellent. It can be found both in PDF format as in plain text. If I'm not mistaking, it was published as part of a million free book program back in the '90s. You're guaranteed to find both of these books by skimming over a few search engine results.
