I'm contemplating picking this up, seems like a Russian version of 1984

I loved 1984.. If this is something similar I'd love to read it.

OP here, been reading it. It's really good so far. Primarily it follows a Russian MGB (State Security) officer as he persues a lead about a traitor to the state.

Gave me a vibe like "The Lives of Others"

You don't understand the signifgance of the term Child 44 until the very last page.

I can't believe you faggots tricked me into reading this book. It started off portraying the whole Orwellian dystopia thing very well, then started getting more and more cheesy before taking a nosedive into retard waters for the last 100 pages. Not to mention the whole premise was retarded, none of the villains' motivations made any goddamned sense, and don't get me started on that tacked on cheesy-ass happy ending.
