Books about chess

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-02 20:01

This might be a long shot, but I'm gonna give it a try any way.
Would anyone here happen to know some decent books about chess?
I'm trying to polish up my game a bit, since I'm on a pretty amateuristic level right now, but there are so many books that I don't really know where to start.

I think I already have the Opening game covered after getting my hands on a copy of 'Marshall's Chess Openings', but I could use some help with books about the Middle- and Endgame.

I'd say you should pick up a copy of:

Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess

He may have been an anti-american bastard, but that man knew his chess. I've been playing all my life and honestly I learned a lot from his book. He basically puts you in increasingly difficult situations for you to think through.

Also I read Philosophy Looks at Chess and it has some interesting insights that you won't really get through traditional chess books.

I liked The Art of the Middle Game by Paul Keres.
