So I just found out today that R.L. Stine wrote a horror novel for adults like 15 years ago. It is called "Superstitious." If it weren't for reading Goosebumps as a kid, I probably would be like most people and never read, instead of reading on average 1 novel per month. So I figured I owed it to the guy to check out his only (?) serious novel aimed at adults.
I picked it up at the library earlier today and am about 1/4 of the way through. It is totally a Fear Street novel with graphic sex and gore. Sure he actually develops the plot a bit, and makes the characters a little bit more real with back stories and what not. But the prose is identical to a Goosebumps novel. Which makes it so out of place when a character says, "So how about a blow job?"
Anyone else read it? What did you think? I don't regret reading it and really look forward to the rest of it, but I still cannot help shaking my head every time sex or gore pops up. It would be like Jim Henson directing the next Saw movie.
