The book by Joe Klein (Anonymous) about Bill Clinton's political campaign before he was elected president. It's a boring, creepy ass book with scenes of Bill Clinton referring to his penis as a "FUCKING PYTHON!!!!!" and flashing his shlong at random intervals. I got half way through and I couldn't stand it any longer. So I went back to finish the Fountain Head instead (read it!!!). Bad part is I'm taking an exam on Political Colors tomorrow for my Media Lit. class and I don't think I will be able to stand another page.
Anyone read it, or can point me out to a site that has a spark note like analysis out there for it?

But its a terrible book! It doesn't even draw you into story! And, its really only a book for those interested in politics. If your aren't so much you lose track of what's going on easily.

Primary Colors: A Novel of Politics, published 1996, is a novel based on Bill Clinton's presidential primary run that originally appeared anonymously, but the author of which was widely suspected and subsequently revealed to have been political journalist Joe Klein. There is also a film adaptation with Joh Travolta, I think it is.

John Travolta, of course. BTW, both before and after Klein's authorship, editions of Primary Colors have given the author as "Anonymous" or "by Anonymous".

Back at a proper computer. For those who don't know the only edition of the book (originally published in New York by the Random House in 1996, and then in paperback under various imprints, especially Vintage) presently in print seems to be the tenth anniversary edition:
Anonymous (Joe Klein), Primary Colors: A Novel of Politics (Random House, October 2006) ISBN 0812976479 / 9780812976472
The Library of Congress catalogue entry for the original edition is
I watched the movie and from what I read of the book, both are not at all similar.
In the book:
Jack Stanton (Bill Clinton) is a sleazy, smooth talking, jerk and his wife is an enormous bitch who stabs her keys at her husband when he talks out of turn around her.
In the movie:
Jack Stanton is a good man who makes some mistakes by cheating with his hair dresser and his wife cries and has everyone feel sorry for her.

Funny that - I remembered them as pretty close. Then again, it IS ten years since I had a look at either.
