I like Stephen King. I think he's a cool dude that can write a really decent novel, and Shining was fucking great. Dreamcatcher has a very well made structure, although it's a little bit on the boring side later on. And fuck's really damn productive.

OP, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

You are the ONLY one OP, god knows how he manages to sell so many novels.

He's no great artist, but can tell a good story, and if you can get sucked into the story he can really scare the shit out of you.  Additionally he can be a lot *fun*, with humor, some interesting literary experiments, and no real pretension that I remember.  I haven't read anything recent, but I did really like his stuff from the late 70s and early 80s...I remember especially liking the novella collection that "Apt Pupil" came from, but I can't remember its name.

Later in life I got to know him personally, briefly, and sat with him when his son was graduating from college.  He's a pretty great guy, and unendingly hilarious.  I think some of the other parents at the ceremony were put off by his joking around through the solemnities, though.

This is the only way I can describe my feelings towards him.
I like his overall stories, but the content is pure shit.
Like The Langoliers for one of many examples.
The overal story of a group of people who travel to the past to see it get eaten by blobs is good, but the dialogue, exposition and plot devices are horrible.
And the fucking hack can't write a good ending to save his life.
