What does /book/ think of stories that start of with 'Hi my name is ____ and I'm about to tell you guys all the fuck about my life'

As opposed to, say, In Cold Blood, which drops you in the middle of the action.

Anything is good as long as it shows me something your audience might like and makes it interested in how things are going to end.

"Hi, my name is Hero and I'm about to bite Jeremy The Betrayer's head off."

Same as,

"The dentist quoted Terminator and grinned like a dog. Jeremy now saw that all his teeth were made of sharpened iron. A monster in a torn medical coat."

"The dentist quoted Terminator and grinned like a dog. Jeremy now saw that all his teeth were made of sharpened iron. A monster in a torn medical coat, aiming at his neck."

would be more to the point.

Wow.  Those are fucking terrible openings.  I hope you don't actually think that those awkwardly phrased fragment riddles are strong examples of good beginnings.
