Some good learning books

Books are always the best way to learn new stuff! Talk about some recent books you've gotten to learn a new skill. I just got back to the US for a bit, so I stopped at HPB and got Advanced Calculus 2nd edition by Wrede and Spiegel(I got it more to complete my calc knowledge than anything, it's nice and small too) and picked up C++ for dummies for a friend(great for first-time programmers, even if it's somewhat of an aberation on certain points)

C++ [is] for dummies
That's certainly true. Friends don't let friends study C++.

Good job on the calculus though. Math is cool.

Recent books I've gotten... well I've been studying some language books in a desultory sort of way.
