ummm i would just like to point out that Chaucer did not in fact rip off Boccaccio but rather they both drew from similar stories told in the frame narrative format and both are great and influential writers who should be remembered as long as literature exists hope that clears some things up for ya dude!!

No, the concept of "appreciation" is quite valid. I appreciate his work because for its influence on English literature, however I didn't like his book personally.
I like how you assume that because I find one particular book boring that I am "complaining" or that I actually like watching TV. I enjoy reading, and have relatively diverse tastes (see http://dis.4chan.org/read/book/1237928793/4). I just didn't like Chaucer.
