Paul Auster

So I've just read The New York Trilogy and loved it, but I'm a bit skeptical as to his other work. The New York Trilogy didn't really do much with character development or plot lines, so I'm not sure how well he writes when focused on things other than writing.
So basically I'm asking if Paul Auster has anything worthwhile outside of The New York Trilogy.
