Got four books, which to start first?

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-07 7:06

Enders Game
Red Mars
Revelation Space
The Eye of the World (first Wheel of Time book)

I'm not sure if I want to start out with some sci-fi or fantasy

Alphabetically, like you listed them. Enjoy.

Thanks for the quick reply =D didn't think I'd get one that fast.

You might put Eye before or after Mars, to include variation, if you feel so inclined.

yeah true, 3 sci-fi then one fantasy is going to hurt.  I'll mix the genres up :p

oh, and since no one fucking cares except you, please tell me how sweet of a deal I got on these books: I paid $11 for all four.  fuck Barnes and Noble, I found a used book store.

Very nice! I should probably go to a secondhand book shop to save money but I like brand new books too much. A single mark or crease in a new book saddens me.

I didn't like The Eye of the World. You should get it out of the way as early as possible without it being inconvenient.

Red Mars and its sequels are fucking awesome.

Red Mars and the series is awesome. No idea wtf the rest of it is to be honest.

Enders Game is one of the best Sci Fi books written. Eye of the World is also good, but don't bother reading the other 13 books in the series.

That is because you are a child, much like everyone who's posted before me.

OP here...

So Red Mars sucks.  Well, it's not badly written, but it's not what I wanted.  Way too much detail, and I suppose hard sci-fi isn't my thing.  Is Revelation Space considered hard sci-fi?

Red Mars is awesome. Just for that, I'm not helping you.

And did I just see you conclude, from a sample of one book, that you don't like hard science fiction? I'm not helping you for that too.
