Ice and Fire, Malazan Book of the Fallen, The First Law, The Long Price Quartet, The Gentlemen Bastards Sequence, Mistborn, The Dark Tower, and the one by R Scott Bakker which I can't remember the name of. All great, and kind of in order of greatness, but not really. Except the first two are the best by far.

Prince of Nothing. Incidentally, I'd put it foremost in that list, except for Long Price which I've yet to read.

The only fantasy that's really worth reading is by Roger Zelazny. You can ignore pretty much everything else.

Amber sucks dongs. Read real Zelazni, like the Creatures of Light and Darkness.
