Enjoyed it a lot, actually. Very good for a light read in between some more serious books.

Also, there really isn't enough (at least somewhat) hard-boiled/noir supernatural/urban fantasy around, apart from a very few notable exceptions.
All I see is chick lit, romance, romance, romance, softporn. Gah!

The romance stuff is just a subplot from what I see. I agree that it isn't all that hard-boiled, but I think Butcher pulls off urban fantasy well. Harry's commentary throughout is also good for laughs.

I got one of the books from this series out the library simply because the writer shares my surname (I thought he might be a distant relative or something...well, it was a long shot, but you never know).  It was pretty good.  Not the sort of thing I'd read frequently, but quite good for an occasional read.

Actually I meant the other stuff that's floating around these days that gets labeled as urban fantasy, not Butcher.
