I'm currently writing an essay on Jon Krakauer's Into the Wild. More specifically, about Alex/Chris's relationship with his father and the father figures he collected during his travels. I could use some insights on this that anyone else who's read the book may have.
Alex despised his family, this much is evident. I'm arguing that even though he made this clear and broke all contact with them, something about Alex drove him to spend time and keep in contact with men who he may have (knowingly or not) seen as father figures. So far, I've begun to flesh out his relationships with Wayne Westerberg, Bob Burres, and Ronald Franz.
