So, this book is incredible. I used to think modern writers had talent, you know... then I read the classics. And still, every time I read one, it amazes me how much better people used to be at using the english language. Dickens sure is teaching me a lot about how to not suck.

Burroughs is in no way better than Dickens. Dickens revolutionized modern literature by the complexity and well-thought plots of his novels. All Burroughs does is experiment with syntax, no real depth there. Do agree with you on Dostoevsky, though. But if his books moved any slower they'd be going backwards.
