Books are a weak form of entertainment

Why read books for pleasure? Theres a lot more entertaining things you can do in your basement. I read only for knowledge (non-fiction).

Why would you automatically assume that everyone finds reading fiction to be a lesser value form of entrtainment? I read fiction whenever I find some that piques my curiosity, it provides a good balance in life.

Reading a story and digesting it at your own pace can be much more rewarding than having it spoonfed to you in the form of a movie or game. To be quite honest, I will tend to take a well written novel over either any time of the day. Lately, I find both of those have been seriously lacking in value.

If you read solely for knowledge, you are blinding yourself from a whole other side of literature.
