Start with the first book of the collected series. And go for the stuff originally done by Howard, there's no comparison between his stuff and the authors who came afterward.
Actually, I lied. The graphic novels being released by Dark Horse (by Kurt Busiek and Cary Nord) are freakin' awesome and just as good as the original stories. In my opinion, anyway.
