Aside from quoting the Reduced Shakespeare Company, here's my two cents: Hamlet was less insane and more obsessive and vengeful. The problem of course is that towards the end he was drifting too easily into his "false" insanity, and was getting too caught up in the act. If things hadn't ended the way they did, more than likely he would have ended up like Ophelia.
