Yamakan was credited as シリーズ演出 in Haruhi.
演出 = (episode)director, シリーズ=series.

Normally, the director(Nishigori of Idol Master, Ishihara of Haruhi) would be credited as 監督(lit.supervisor).

The only 2 shows I know that has a series director are Haruhi and Idol Master.
