Filipinos. Asians?

okay, so i am 16 year old male filipino who lived in the philippines until i was 6, i am now currently in michigan. what i want to know, is that while the philippines is geographically in asia, many of my friends tease me on "not being a true asian". what are your guys' opinions on this?

Here's my logic: the Phillipines are off the coast of Asia. Just like Japan.

Are Japs asian? If so, Pinoys are asian.
