I wanna start watching the Gundam series, but there are so many that I don't know what to do.

Does it make sense to start marathoning all the way from Mobile Suite Gundam of 1980?

I heard the US DVDs are dubtitled meaning the downloaded fandub versions would be a necessity

MS Gundam is. I can't confirm, but I think that almost everything else has subtitles w/Japanese audio.
