He has Charles' Code which he received when the man choked him. The Code activates first when you die, which happened. And before you say can't have Code and a Geass at the same time, the Code wasn't the one C.C. had, meaning that Lelouch was the first one to achieve Code Geass. He's now travelling the country-side with C.C., living as immortals.

That's the only reason for C.C. to be suddenly so happy again. Also, before you say that C.C. was just talking to the dead like with Marianne, that's not true. She could only talk to her because of the nature of her Geass which allowed her to implant herself into the "hearts" of others. That's how she was able to talk with Marianne. Lelouch's Geass was entirely different, meaning that she could only have spoken to him if he was there.

Also, the screenie of the cart driver who is masking his features competely supports this.

What further supports this is that Nunnally got Lelouch's memories when she touched her, just like Lelouch did when he touched C.C. back in Narita. The only way this could have happened is his Code activating. This pretty much confirms that he has the Code and is alive.

meh what else could they possibly do at this point?  is Lelouch just going to be a "protector" ?  hes already set the world up to be a peaceful place for his Sister i mean everything was complete i don't see a reason why they would want him alive ...

Lelouch is both alive and dead, there's no proof that he is alive.
(no, we don't know if Nunally see Lelouch's past when she touched him or if it is a flashback for the spectator, Kallen understand the situation without touching Lulu, too. Moreover Nunally see that Lelouch smiles and possibly feel that he is not stressed... For an evil dictator who just have been stabbed, pretty weird... And she's not stupid).

Also if the code only activate after dying one time, he wasn't dead when Nunally touched him. So, fail. If the code is activated immediatly when anyone receive him (we still don't have any proof that Lulu has a code...), everyone would have been able to see the mark, and Suzaku and CC would not have cried, etc. Fail again.

(And I don't see why he would have received Charle's code,
1/ That's not Lulu who killed him, it's the world of C, even if Lulu said "Kieru" or any other verb like that he was already disappearing before,
2/ Charle was just insulting him until the very end...

If it was CC's code, every character we have saw who had lost their code died. The one who gives the code to CC, VV and Charle. So why would CC be alive?)

Lelouch-fanboys who can't admit that there is no proof that he is alive just suck, I'm a fanboy of Lulu x CC too but it's not incompatible with "being objective"...

Everyone says that in end CC is talking to him through the world of C.  Its not possible because you acutally have to be in the world of C to talk to dead people.  CC could only talk to marrianna because of her geass ability.  If she became dormant in Anya then they could converse with each other. 

She wouldnt be talking to her self.  Especially right before the cut scene. 

Unlike other people, lelouch kept to him promises, he destroyed the world, recreated it.  Kept his pack with CC, fulfilled her wish, to be loved.  Yeah he did it all just as he said.

I think that a person with matured geass can take a code, for example im pretty sure VV didnt hand over his code nicely to Charles.  Charles just took it.

Earlier charles was said, "Defeat me with the power of Kings, and you shall surpass the power of Kings".  If geass is the power of kings, then immortality is the power of gods.  He defeated him with geass and in return recieved immortality.

Thats only one thought, the other was because he was dissapearing, he wanted to make sure lelouch suffered in Scheizels world.  So he gave him the code.  However i think the first one is more probable.

The code couldve been either on his hand or neck.  I say his neck because thats where charles grabbed him.  In the final parts you cant really see either for, his hand, is covered in his own blood, and his neck by his outfit.  So you cant say no to this one.

The code does activate after your death, however what if the code is activating?  Then it would be crazy.  Kallen only knew what was going on because, one she knew who zero was, and two, lelouch would do something like this.

Personally, I think that Lelouch is still alive. I believe this because it is supported by valid theories and by a reviewer's intuition. I would like to say in this little comment of mine the theories that I speak of, but fortunately, zongetsu and the anonymous guy that started this thread said it all.

However, I think the farmer-like dude leading the wagon in the last episode theory is... well... kinda weird. But it is possible that it was Lelouch.

To those people who just watched and followed the awesomeness of Code Geass (anime) and did not do any reading on the background of what Geass is, The geass is a code that is believed to be the code of the Gods. But in Irish mythology, Geass came from the word Geis or what is known to be "The Cursed Blessing". And as said from my sources, the "Cursed Blessing" is indeed a miraculuous blessing that let's you have anything you desire, let alone immortality. This is what the anime based their plot with.

Making a lot of twists and turns in their main plot, they have most certainly created the "rules" for how to achieve the final evolution of the power known as Code Geass. I agree with zongetsu that the code activates after death, and with anonymous guy that you can have both the code AND the geass at the same time (why did c.c get the code from Sister then and how did charles get his immortality from V.V, right? And also, don't mix Lelouch's power with C.C and Charles and any other geass user because his is different than theirs.)- that's why the anime/manga is entitled CODE GEASS. That was what the creators of CG meant.

A wild guess- but I think he did recieve his father's code. He recieved it in his other eye. (Oh wait.. I need to prove this yet.)

I don't blame you for getting confused by all of these happenings in the anime since the creators were... CLAMP (oh yes! clamp- sakura kinimoto, magic knights, honey clover... yeah...)- who're in charge of the melodrama/"soft side" parts of the anime and the characters- and Sunrise, who're in charge of creating the plots on Lelouch's rebellion and fighting stuff, the action part in the series. When CLAMP is involved, plot twits and endings are meant to be confusing and not CANON. Hell, even the fight between love team fandoms are fighting right now.

the writer of the show himself has stated that lelouch died.  theres nothing else to it, these theories are ridiculous.  just let him go and enjoy the story for what it is.

Xirian, considering his geass gets more powerful with each use, and he commanded what is essentially everyone, you would think that his geass would become powerful enough to take over another eye, such as what happened with Mao.

I know Lelouch is probably dead but i still like to think that hes alive.The only complete disproving of his life is what the writer said, but i think he might have something going on where A new series or a 3rd season could come in.I really hope we see more but its unlikely.

Ichirō Ōkouchi, one of the writers for Code Geass, even confirmed that Lelouch is dead. It doesn't get anymore final than that. The writer's word should be taken as fact. Why can't you people accept that and move on? Geez.

I Say Lelouch is still alive, whether You believe me and the others or not. the clues are right their infront of you. Besides "IF" their was going to be a 3rd season I guess it would either involve nunnally or a new person with a new geass. Also I remember something my friend told me: Lelouch Vi Britanna is dead, but not Lelouch Lamperouge.

If i can recall lelouch said he will make a a better world for nanalie and by doing this he had to destroy current world and create a new one. Lelouch did everything for nanalie it hurt me bad because lelouch had to die but he planned everything out perfectly and in order for this new world to advance he coulnt be in it . lelouch dies but the zero requelium doesnt. zero(suzaku) will be known as a hero.thats the zero requelium , zero's perfect plan and lelouch`s perfect world.

We know this because he gave Suzaku a geass power in the end.
Otherwise he wouldnt have been able to give the power of geass to ANYONE.

Whether or not the creators said he's dead, Lelouch is NOT dead. Maybe Code Geass is over, maybe IT's dead, but Lelouch lives on.

I read somewhere that one of the animators of the show hinted that Lelouch is still alive, gets placed in a capsule like C2 in the first season, the third series takes place in the future, a descendant of Nunnally opens the capsule, and Lelouch becomes R2/L2 and a new war is raging on Earth.

Plus the song "continued story" 's lyrics could also serve as an extra hint for "the viewers" to have the inclination to think that Lulu is indeed still alive. Well , he may be the cart's driver, whose figure is yet  unseen . Who knows ?

But somehow I want to see another Code Geass movie...hehe...maybe we could have some OVA about Suzaku's life after that [I wonder if he'll be happy , since Nunnally and everyone think he's dead, and even Lulu cursed him before he supposedly died, but if Lulu's still alive i feel bad for Suzaku's fate to be as such.. >< ]
