Lol not sure whether to put it here or Technology, but considering everyone loves to make fanart of her...
Anyhoo, i was wondering about the consequences of such software coming out now...
I mean, the creative potential this could unleash with songwriters with no, uh, voice (or maybe no female one lmao) can now fulfill their creative needs to a bit.
But now we've come to a precedent. We are now able to, more or less, synthesize a human singer's voice. Not perfect, and it's still based on samples of an original singer, but damn well near it.
If you were able to perfect this shit, wouldnt japanese idols kinda like go out of business so to speak? Japan would probably need the sex symbols still, but the creative aspect for their careers would be shot. I mean, how many of them actually write their own songs?
Plus, what happens when people start venting, goin "arrgh, yer takin the humanity out of it rabble rabble". But eventually technology will be able to replicate speech patterns perfectly... if not already.
Philosophically, it's kinda wierd. Bascially you're reducing even the human voice down to a mere instrument, moreso when you can manipulate it as much as you can through Vocaloid.
