Is it really that great? I'm about 5 episodes in, and I'm very confused. Maybe it's because I watch it when I'm really tired and I miss big parts of the plot....but I doubt that.

 Any comments on it?

Personally one of my favorites. Just don't try to over-analyze it and you'll enjoy it more.

I understand it was sort of a copy of Eva, and was made to set new standards for mech anime or something of the sort.

 I watched it through, and I kinda liked it...but it really didn't hit me as anything special...though I won't say it was bad at all.
