Harsh Reality for Many Otaku

Name: Anonymous 2007-03-10 19:11 ID:HjdazHxx

It is many otaku dream to visit japane some day. TO finally attain ones lifelong goal and to be swept away in the moment of all desire. But Japane is not the magical land you are seen in anime. It is different from the idea the mind creates. Most otaku have wished to be accepted into the land of Japane, but they are to reject foreigners and treat them as outcasts. NO, you cannot cosplay as belldandy in Japane. NO, you cannot ask for advice on your megatokyo fanfic in Japane. If you plan to go to Japane to look for a girlfriend, they are unfriendly to foreigners and you will learn it is nothing like in anime. THis is something all otaku must learn to accept in their lives. It is a sad but true lesson.

14 here is the thing. genshiken was made by anime fans for anime fans but those are the kind of (I HATE THIS WORD)Otaku who watch alot of anime and play lots of games but still socialise.

densha otoko Is the anime world from the outside. it was made by mundanes for mundanes. it is an exaduration of the akiba kei complex.

welcome to the NHK ni youkoso's chara yamazaki is a realistic depiction(in my opinion).  yamazaki is like me in the way that He does not like to socialise but does it because he needs to. I also found it funnie how similar our feeling are about women. those feelings beeing   "THEY ARE ALL LOOSE WHORES FROM THE AGE OF 12 AND SHOULD BE SHOT" but this does not apply to anime women. It turs out we both have the problem for the same reason too .  wee both spent most of our lives on the verge of otaku but not droping into otaku because we wanted girlfriends. but when we lost our last love interest (who refused us again)  we gave up on woman and became full fleged otaku.

I cant tell you what anime fans are like in japan because i have never been there . im not gonna lie im only 17 but i did have a job at the local anime store and has had some exposure to real fandom in america.   Im sure that in japan there is still a propblem with 12 year old girls thinking that they are hardcore fans bacause they watch inuyasha. and there are probably some poor guys who are scared to talk to people who are difficult to hang out with.

hell I dont know anything. I question my ota all the time because i dont watch 10 eps a day although i have done that many times.  the other day i watched 70 eps of bleach in 5 days and my rooms (divorced parents)are full of anime stuff being figurined models posters etc..

heres how you should look at it.

-ota in japan are way more common than ota here due to the fact that there are more things anime related there.  if you go there you will see the antisocial and the guys who crowd the street doing the dance to the haruhi ed theme(thats me)

also its mostly only the old japanese who hate foregners. the new generatin does not care and acctually many of them love our culture.
