Anyone realize how many animes make reference to something german?
For instance:
1.Earlier Gundam Series
2.Weiß Kreuz
3.Elfen Lied
4.Fullmetal Alchemist
and moar.

well, too many Japanese can actually understand the meaningless English references that littered earlier anime. anime has to start making meaningless German references now to keep the momentum going.
Pro-German sentiment is strong among Otaku, I guess.

Otaku are just the personification of the entire Japanese society's frustration, that's why "normal" Japanese are so embarrassed about them, they know they could have been like just like them.

You're overanalyzing. Otaku are just Japanese equivalent of geeks. >>4
It's strong with whole Japanese society. They were Axis afterall. Typically Germans are rather well liked or atleast sympathised in ex. Axis countries. World changes, but alliance never dies I guess.

Since the beginning of time this sorta infatuation with
foreign cultures/writing systems has existed, and very often
unintended humor resulted. Actually, it should be quite rare
that foreign cultures are accurately represented in pop culture
anywhere. There's nothing new under the sun.
More like an absolutely massive hardon for mangling the german language... "Herdensagen vom Kosmosinsel" = "Flock legends of cosmic island".
Five Star Stories also makes some nice use of German: There's that one episode with a heavily germanophilic knight whose ultimate attack spell was... (guess for yourselves)

Basically, it's been like;
Britain>France>>>>>>>>>Germany
Girls do love France.
Check out The Rose of Versailles, for example.

You can argue that France is the land of love or some crap, but nobody likes smelly Brits with bad teeth. Really, nobody at all.

It depends. Everyone likes victorian age british gentlemen, but no-one likes modern brits and for a reason.
