Why was Asuka in the hospital?

After Asuka fails to sync with her eva to fight armiseal or whatever the 16th angel is called, we (the viewers) assume that she wandered around the ruins of Tokyo-3, like Shinji had before her. Somehow she lost all of her clothes and got in a bath tub, but she wasn't bathing. She was just laying there thinking about her mother when NERV agents come and take her away. The next site or mention of Asuka is when Kawhuro is summoning her eva and floating in their air like jesus etc. I think Yuga (wouldn't know how to spell his name, or kawhuro) checked the surveilance cameras to make sure Asuka wasn't in unit-02. She wasn't. She was in a hospital bed. In EoE she has all these needle iv and suction cups on her, and plenty of bandages. The question is, why?

Q) What color are Asuka's eyes at the end of the film? And, is the person at the end of the film actually a combination of Asuka, Rei,
and Misato? Is she, Shinji's 'perfect woman'?"

A) This perposterous theory has been around for a while now, but it was never as popular as it is now. Asuka's eyes are blue, not brown, at the end of the film.

As you can see, her eye is clearly blue (somewhat greyish, but this is because of the color tones/lighting of the scene - it is night afterall).
