Di Gi Charat

Okay, I've seen the cute loli characters for some time, and after seeing hoards of "Nyo~!"ing cosplayers, I had steered clear of it to avoid the possibilty of cavities. Anyway, yesterday a friend convinced me to watch the original series.

...Wow. It's nearly the complete opposite of what I was thinking. I had no idea that this series was chock full of fart jokes and that the kawaii bishoujo lead was a selfish, raging bitch. I love the fact that Dejiko is constantly bad mouthing the otaku customers, yet fangirls herself over KOF's Iori. And the surreality also wins. All in all, quite brilliant. XD

Does the rest of it stand up to the original series at all? If so, I'm sold.

Hullo, original poster, here. I've since picked up the first dvds for Leave It To Piyoko and Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat. I like Leave It To Piyoko, but Panyo Panyo is horrid. Instead of the bitchy, jaded little otaku-in-denial Dejiko's a good little princess who wants to make the world happy. Bleargh.

I mean, Panyou Panyo is cute and all, and I rather like the character designs, but feels like a completely different series that just had Dejiko, Puchiko and Piyoko slapped in there for the hell of it.
