Black anime characters

I've personally never seen a black anime character.  Do they exist?

Well thinking back to Gundam nearly every black person shown was killed off.
0080 War in the Pocket - Garcia blew himself up.
Gundam F91 - Seabrook's black friend died as the first death, then Annamarie Bourget (indian?)
Then Gundam Wing, etc etc...

Also in Rahxephon there was that black guy Shawn that piloted the Vermillion 02, he got crushed by a dolem.
Seems to me alot of black people die in Anime, just as they would do in movies. "The black guy always dies first."
