What do you consider to be the best manga written, finished or still in production? Your favorite?

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-22 23:25

GTO > Gantz > Bleach > Naruto > Inuyasha

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-24 10:51

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
20th Century Boys
MONSTER
Homunculus
G Senjou Heaven's Door
Bokurano

Mahoro.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-25 15:05

Uhh my favorite overall is Rurouni Kenshin. GTO, Trigun, Gunnm (Battle Angel Alita), and Akira are also pretty awesome.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-25 23:17

Azumanga Daioh and its male counterpart, Cromartie High School.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-26 1:29

>>8 Yotsuba to! is a million times funnier than Azumanga. Cromartie is fucking awesome.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-26 5:45

Cromartie, period.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-26 16:59

Azumanga, Saikano, Cromartie, Di Gi Charat.

I also love A.I. Love You and "Hot Gimmick".

- 20th Century Boys & Monster for the thrilling, conspiracy storytelling

- I"s (v01-10 only though), Kimagure Orange Road and Rough, for the innocent school love story

- Harukana Machi-E, Today in Class 5-2 and "Mohiro Kitoh's Short Stories - Zansho" because I'm a sucker for solemn short-stories

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-28 1:21

>>12 Ooo, someone with good taste!

Zansho is great stuff.

If you like Today in Class 5-2, you might like the mangaka's other manga Minami-ke.

I like Gantz and Bleach mangas the best, but I haven't read many so I don't know what's the best ever written...

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-28 12:37

JoJo or Blame!

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-28 13:56

I enjoy Battle Royale and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure as well as Gantz and GTO. All of those are worth your time.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-29 3:57

Yubisaki Milk Tea, period

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-29 9:05

>>13 If you enjoyed Zansho, you might want to try Endo Short Stories (two volumes).  It's a lot more morbid and gritty I think but kind of along the same lines.

Thanks for recommending Minami-ke, didn't know about that.

FLCL is teh win...

Has this Ueda Hajime done other mangas? I just love the crazy style :P

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-29 19:19

>>18 I checked out "The Crows, the Girl and the Yakuza" and "For Those of Us Who Don't Believe in God" from Endo Short Stories. Both were really good.

Check out "Alchino"  It's devine.  The art quality is so sublime, and the story is captivating as well.  It's a little hard to find though, but it's worth it.  There are only three volumes that I know of so far.

Here's a sample of the artwork.

Favorite remains Berserk, though I still have a lot to read.

Name: Anonymous 2005-07-09 16:35

>>18 Finally got around to reading the rest of Endo's Short Stories. Man there was some really good stuff in there.

Name: Anonymous 2005-07-09 23:40

>>27 Yeah, it was pretty enjoyable with a little twist on the stories.  The grittiness is part of the charm I think.  The only other work of his I'm aware of is Eden and that's kind of hard to get into, it's only kind of starting to make sense now in the 11th volume.

Name: Anonymous 2005-07-19 17:23

What I'm reading:
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
Yubisaki Milk Tea
Chokotto Sister
Pretty Face
Karin

Name: Anonymous 2005-08-01 20:48

Firefighter Daigo

Name: Anonymous 2005-08-02 14:21

Berserk is still my #1, so I'll put another vote in for that.

Gunnm (battle angel) being a 2nd. Gunnm used to be much better, but this new comic has sadly declined into a monster-of-the-day title. The storytelling really seems to have fallen apart.

Art is still spectacular though.

Do I have to choose? There's so many. @_@
...Gah,fine. I suppose...Berserk, Death Note (DON'T HURT ME!), Yubisaki Milk Tea, Hot Gimmick (glad someone else is interested too), Azumanga Daiou, Yotsubato! (Azuma=GOD), FLCL (INSANE), Honey & Clover (which is also one of my favorite anime at the moment), Rurouni Kenshin, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Genshiken (I CAN RELATE! :D).

Name: Anonymous 2005-08-12 21:39

GTO, the original Lupin the 3rd(yeah there might not be much of a story but they were fun), FLCL, Jo Jo, Inuyasha(Don't Kill me)

Name: Anonymous 2005-08-14 13:01

Well, mine are....(Yes, I like the weird shit)

MPD Psycho, The Laughing Vampier, Violinist Of Hamelin(ONLY THE MANGA), Leviathan, the Rockman Megamixes,Angel Sanctuary, Bleach and D.Gray-Man.

Bah, the whole return of the Hawk king arc is so damn dragged out.  It's going to take another five volumes just for them to reach Elf kingdom and then another twenty volumes before Caska either dies or returns to normal.
